The PRE1 is a line preamplifier from Fluo, designed as a dual mono unit housed in one enclosure. Left and right run on two separate circuit boards, keeping the channels apart up to the output.

Key specs that matter

The JFET balanced input circuit from Fluo power amplifiers is reused in the PRE1 for all audio inputs and outputs, and the power supply follows the same low-noise technology as those amplifiers. Input impedance is 20k ohms for XLR and RCA alike. Second and third harmonics sit at 0.0002 percent, 114 dB below the signal. The chassis measures 485 x 125 x 525 mm.

Pairing

Sharing its input stage and supply design with Fluo power amplifiers, the PRE1 is intended as the control unit for those models, while the equal input impedance on both input types suits balanced and RCA sources alike.

Alternatives

Fluo does not list another line preamplifier beside the PRE1.
