Rega Planar 8 was inspired by the latest Rega Naiad player. Roy Gandhi and his developers decided early on that instead of evolving the previous RP8, the new Planar 8 should be designed and engineered to fully match the Naiad concept, but at an affordable price. The goal was to achieve a level of vinyl disc reproduction that would be much higher than the previous one for a similar price.
