Compared to the Ortofon MC Diamond on which it is based, Gryphon’s Black Diamond DLC stands out visually with its rich black DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating. The DLC-TR SLM-coated titanium used in the Black Diamond DLC was developed by Gryphon in collaboration with the Danish Institute of Technology and offers tangible sonic benefits: the speed of sound transmission and resonance of titanium is doubled from 9,000 meters per second to 18,000 meters per second. Gryphon thus claims to achieve a level of clarity, detail and musicality that is unachievable in any other way. Full specs coming soon.
