One of the main features of the Cantico J-DAC is the transformer output stage. Each channel uses one JFET transistor located between the conversion resistors and the customized output transformers. According to the company, such a circuit provides galvanic isolation and the same level of quality on both balanced XLR outputs and unbalanced RCA. At the same time, only one type of analog output can be operated at any given time. There is a physical switch on the back of the case to choose between XLR and RCA outputs. This approach highlights the manufacturer's desire to avoid unnecessary switching circuits and maintain the shortest possible signal path.
