The Monitor Audio Vestra W10 is the smallest of the Vestra subwoofers, a line of three powered subwoofers for home cinema and music systems of all sizes. It combines a 10-inch driver with a sealed enclosure and is meant both as a single sub for smaller two-channel or multichannel systems and for use in multiples, where several subwoofers spread bass more evenly across a room.

Key specs that matter

A 10-inch (254mm) C-CAM unit with high linear excursion handles the bass and is powered by a 250W high-efficiency Class D amplifier. In-room frequency response is 19Hz to 200Hz at -6dB, and maximum usable peak output is 111dB (CTA-2010-B, half-space). The low-pass filter adjusts from 32Hz to 200Hz, phase switches between 0 and 180 degrees, and input impedance is 47 kilohms. Connections are a stereo RCA pair, a dedicated LFE RCA input and a 12V trigger on a 3.5mm mono jack. The cabinet measures 344 x 330 x 360mm and weighs 13.3kg. It comes in matte black or matte white, and it carries a five-year Monitor Audio warranty.

Engineering and use context

All Vestra models use the Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium (C-CAM) cone, a stiff yet light diaphragm that stays pistonic at long excursion. The motor is built for high linear excursion, so the cone can travel far with low distortion. Monitor Audio did not simply scale down the 500W module of the larger W12 and W15. The W10 has its own 250W amplifier and power supply matched to the smaller driver. Like the W12, it uses a sealed cabinet, while the W15 is ported. The sealed box gives a gentler roll-off and reduces sensitivity to positioning near walls and furniture. The enclosure is built from 15mm MDF with internal bracing and a reinforced front baffle, and it stands on threaded rubber feet. The W10 wakes automatically on an incoming signal and drops into standby once the signal ends. The compact, cube-like footprint makes it practical to run two or more in one room.

Pairing

An AV receiver's subwoofer output goes to the dedicated LFE input, while the stereo inputs and wide filter range suit stereo amplifiers with pre-outs. The W10 is sized for small to medium rooms, or for larger rooms when used in pairs.

Alternatives

Monitor Audio's Silver W-12 6G steps up to a 12-inch driver and a 500W amplifier for larger rooms and higher output.
