The Allnic Audio HPA-3000 is a stereo valve headphone amplifier, now discontinued by Allnic. It uses a transformer-coupled triode circuit with a pair of 6DR7 valves as gain tubes. Each unit came with two RCA 6DR7, one 5654 and one 7233 valve, and the list price in the USA was USD 3,900.

Key specs that matter

Rated output is 3 W per channel into 32 ohm, and the voltage gain is 28 dB. The frequency response spans 20 Hz to 20 kHz within 3 dB, with 63 dB signal-to-noise. The chassis measures 240 x 330 x 175 mm and weighs 10 kg.

Pairing

Because output transformers sit between the valves and the headphone socket, the amplifier can drive low-impedance and high-impedance headphones alike.

Alternatives

The Allnic Audio HPA-5000 XL is a later headphone amplifier of the brand that drops the output transformer in favour of an OTL/OCL circuit.
