The TTP Turntable is the record player that Cyrus Audio released in 2024 to mark the 40th anniversary of the British company. Cyrus worked with a German engineering firm on the mechanical parts and applied its own skills to the power supply and motor drive. It is intended to complement the phono stages and preamplifiers of the brand. The package includes the tonearm but no cartridge, and it was priced at GBP 4,295 in the UK and USD 5,800 in the USA, with a 3-year parts and labour warranty.
Key specs that matter
The plinth and platter are each machined from solid aluminium, and the complete unit weighs 24 kg. Width is 430 mm and depth 376 mm. Drive is by a square-section belt from an integrated DC synchronous motor, and electronic speed control provides 33 1/3 and 45 rpm. Wow and flutter stays below 0.1%. The external mains supply accepts 90 to 264 V AC at 50 or 60 Hz, draws under 0.5 W in standby and a maximum of 20 W. The arm is the factory-fitted TA3, based on the Rega RB330, and it is suitable for moving magnet or moving coil pickups. Cyrus describes the arm as lightweight. The plinth stands on three adjustable feet that can be removed and replaced.
Engineering and use context
This is a solid plinth design without a sprung subchassis, relying on mass and a damped aluminium body. The platter rides on a hardened steel axle that turns in a high-precision bearing with integrated lubrication, filled at the factory. For the motor, Cyrus designed a digital control circuit intended to keep speed stable and wow and flutter very low. The TA3 arm was developed with a redistribution of mass along the tube to reduce the number of resonance points, and its horizontal and vertical bearing assemblies are built for low friction. The arm has no built-in VTA adjustment, although aftermarket adjusters exist. A thin mat covers the highly polished surface of the platter. The supply socket doubles as an upgrade port, so the PSX-R2 external power supply, sold separately for USD 1,300, can replace the standard unit. A custom clear acrylic dust cover is also sold as an option.
Pairing
The TTP needs a phono stage, and Cyrus offers several of its own, such as the 40 PPA or the Classic PHONO. Since the arm handles both cartridge types, the phono stage should offer the matching MM or MC gain and loading.
Alternatives
Cyrus Audio has no other turntable in its range.
