The SpinPlay is a self-contained vinyl system from the Boston company Andover Audio that puts a belt-drive deck, amplifiers and a vented speaker enclosure into one cabinet. Announced on 7 November 2025 at a suggested price of USD 729, it is sold in a black version and a white version, and a hard dust cover is included. Andover notes that it is sized to fit an airline overhead compartment.

Key specs that matter

The platter spins at 33.3 and 45 rpm through an electronically governed DC motor and a belt, with wow and flutter below 0.15 percent weighted. A 30 cm cast aluminium platter carries a damped silicone mat. The 226 mm aluminium tonearm turns on precision ball bearings and has a semi-fixed counterweight, viscous-damped cueing, adjustable anti-skating and preset tracking force. An Audio-Technica AT3600L cartridge comes fitted, and replacement styli are the conical ATN3600LC or the elliptical ATN3600LE. The cabinet measures 46 x 17.1 x 34.3 cm and weighs 9.3 kg.

Engineering and use context

The speaker array fires across a 270 degree arc using two 1.75 x 4 inch oval woofers working from 40 Hz to 2.5 kHz and two 0.75 inch silk dome tweeters above 2.5 kHz. A dedicated amplifier channel feeds every driver, with 20 W for each woofer and 15 W for each tweeter, an arrangement Andover calls Dual Direct Drive. The system response is rated from 60 Hz to 20 kHz. Andover's IsoGroove technology is intended to stop vibration from the speakers reaching the stylus. Operation is semi-automatic, with auto power-on and an end-of-record auto-stop. Besides the internal phono path, it accepts an analogue aux source, optical digital up to 24 bit and 96 kHz, a USB flash drive with MP3, WMA or WAV files, and Bluetooth 5.0 in both receive and transmit modes. A single knob, a stealth LED display and a full-function IR remote handle control, and a heather-textured fabric grille covers the drivers. A USB port supplies 5 V at 300 mA for charging a phone, and the mains input takes 100 to 250 V AC.

Pairing

A subwoofer output with a selectable 100 Hz high-pass filter lets an active sub take the low bass off the small woofers. The 2 V RMS line output can feed a separate amplifier, a headphone socket delivers 120 mW into 16 ohm, and Bluetooth transmit can send records to wireless headphones. Andover also offers a matching SpinSub subwoofer and a SpinStand that holds 150 LPs.

Alternatives

For those who want a separate deck without built-in speakers, Andover also makes the SpinDeck 2 turntable.
