The RP-TT100 is a fully automatic belt-drive turntable that marked the return of Sharp to record players after a gap since the early 2000s. It was unveiled at IFA 2025 in Berlin and went on sale in Europe in October 2025 at EUR 199, with a UK price of GBP 179. Sharp aims it at newcomers to vinyl who want a deck that plays records without manual setup.
Key specs that matter
The deck spins at 33 1/3 and 45 rpm, with an adapter for 7 inch singles in the box, and wow and flutter is below 0.3% WRMS. A factory-fitted Audio-Technica AT-3600L moving magnet cartridge sits in a metal S-shaped arm above an aluminium platter with a rubber mat. The built-in phono stage quotes a signal-to-noise ratio above 55 dB in phono mode and above 40 dB in line mode, channel separation above 20 dB, balance within 2 dB and rumble below -40 dB. The matt black ABS plinth measures 381 x 102 x 359 mm and weighs 2.8 kg.
Engineering and use context
Automatic operation lowers the arm at the start of a record, lifts it at the end and offers preset lead-in positions for 7 inch and 12 inch discs. Buttons on the deck or the supplied remote handle start, cue forward, cue back, pause and repeat. A rear switch selects phono or line output, and a separate gain switch has three steps, while a ground terminal is provided for external phono stages. Bluetooth 5.4 works only as a transmitter, sending SBC audio over A2DP and AVRCP to wireless speakers or headphones. A USB-C port records to a computer as 48 kHz 16-bit PCM for digitising records. Power comes from a 12 V 1 A adapter rated for 100-240 V mains, draw is 2.6 W with the platter turning and under 0.3 W in standby, and after about 15 minutes of inactivity the deck switches itself to standby. The stylus is user-replaceable, ships with a protective cover, and Sharp advises changing it after roughly 400 hours of play. Deck controls are flush-mounted in the top surface.
Pairing
With the preamp in line mode the RP-TT100 connects to any line input or directly to active speakers, while phono mode suits an amplifier or separate preamp with a moving magnet input. The box includes RCA leads with a ground wire, a spare belt, a stylus brush and a tinted dust cover. Sharp also sells CP-SS30 bookshelf speakers at EUR 169 that receive the turntable over Bluetooth.
Alternatives
The Sharp RP-TT70 is a semi-automatic belt-drive turntable in a wooden cabinet that adds 78 rpm and comes with a pair of shelf speakers.
