The Revolution is a belt-drive turntable from Systemdek, the British analogue brand whose Systemdek III and later 3D models were built in Troon, Scotland. Announced in 2025 and available from autumn 2025, it is the brand's first new turntable in several years, and it is presented through ART Loudspeakers with Derek Dunlop representing Systemdek. The price is GBP 4,950 without a tonearm.
Key specs that matter
The Revolution runs at 33.3 and 45 rpm, driven by an AC synchronous motor through a belt, and speed can be fine-tuned mechanically. The platter is a single piece of high-inertia Delrin. The main bearing is a magnetically opposed hydrostatic taper design. The record, platter and tonearm hang together on a three-point mass-loaded suspension, and the plinth and sub-chassis are built from layered Richlite and birch. The armboard takes tonearms of 9 to 10 inches. Dimensions, weight and platter mass have not been published.
Engineering and use context
The bearing combines two principles to avoid metal-to-metal contact. Opposing magnets carry the weight of the platter, so the spindle does not rest on a thrust ball or plate, while the hydrostatic oil film damps movement, and the taper shape limits radial play of the spindle in its housing. A bearing without mechanical contact at the interface produces less rumble, the low-frequency noise that a stylus picks up from the drive system. Delrin is an acetal polymer, and a one-piece, high-inertia platter made from it resists speed changes once it is turning, which Systemdek links to speed stability and fewer vibrational artefacts. The hanging suspension carries the record, platter and arm as one assembly on three points, isolating them from vibrations that reach the plinth from the floor and from the motor. Constrained-layer mass damping is used throughout, with different materials placed at each interface so that vibration is turned into heat instead of passing through the structure. Richlite is a dense paper-based composite, and layering it with birch gives the plinth and sub-chassis stiffness together with internal damping. Systemdek sums up the approach as controlling mass, stiffness, damping, inertia and isolation together rather than treating each one separately.
Pairing
The Revolution is supplied without an arm, so any 9 or 10 inch tonearm from established makers can be fitted, together with a moving-magnet or moving-coil cartridge suited to that arm's effective mass. The output then needs a phono stage matched to the cartridge type.
Alternatives
The Systemdek 3D is the brand's heavier precision turntable with a three-point suspended sub-chassis and a 45 kg weight.
