The O Turntable is a belt-drive turntable from Orange Amplifiers, the British company founded by Cliff Cooper and known for its guitar and bass amplifiers. Cooper launched Orange Studios in London's West End in 1968, followed by Orange Records and Orange DJ consoles with twin decks, and the O Turntable draws on that history. It is built in the UK and priced at GBP 499, EUR 599 or USD 699.

Key specs that matter

The turntable is belt driven by a 24 V low-noise synchronous motor with a custom circuit board and an aluminium pulley. The platter is phenolic, 23 mm thick and of high mass. A moving-magnet phono stage is built in, and a moving-magnet cartridge with a replaceable stylus is pre-fitted. The tonearm has ultra-low-friction bearings and automatic bias adjustment. The plinth is finished in white gloss with Orange's Voice of the World crest, and the power switch sits underneath. A slipmat and transparent dust cover are included.

Engineering and use context

A synchronous motor locks its speed to the frequency of its supply, and running it at low voltage with a dedicated circuit board keeps motor noise low. The aluminium pulley turns the platter via an elastic band that soaks up motor vibration before it reaches the record. The thick, heavy phenolic platter acts as a flywheel, so its inertia smooths small speed variations. Phenolic resin is dense and well damped, a material used in industrial and electrical applications. The built-in phono stage raises the cartridge signal to line level, so the deck can feed powered speakers or a line input straight away, including Orange's own Pyramid System, a powered speaker system. Automatic bias, the anti-skating force, removes one of the adjustments that newcomers often find difficult. The replaceable stylus lets the owner renew the cartridge when it wears. Orange's branding appears on the plinth, tonearm and cartridge, and the white finish follows the brand's design style. US availability began in late July 2025. Orange amplifiers have been used by artists such as Jimmy Page and Geddy Lee.

Pairing

The O Turntable pairs with Orange's Pyramid System or any active speakers or amplifier through its built-in phono stage. No separate phono preamplifier is needed.

Alternatives

Orange has no other turntable, as the O Turntable is the brand's only model in this category.
