The Obi3 G2 is the second generation of the Obi3 belt-drive turntable from Kanto Audio, a company that describes its products as Canadian designed. It is sold in five colour options - Black, White, Green, Ice Blue and Walnut - and ships with the Audio-Technica AT3600L cartridge already fitted. The G2 update adds Bluetooth 5.3 and a phono preamp that the owner can switch in or out, so one deck can be heard over a wireless link or through an RCA cable. The Vancouver company announced the G2 on August 11, 2026, with list prices of USD 249.99, CAD 269.99, GBP 179.99, EUR 199.99 and AUD 349.99.

Key specs that matter

Speed control covers 33-1/3 and 45 RPM, and a pitch knob shifts either one by up to 10 percent up or down, which Kanto presents as a way to change tempo and tone. Wow and flutter is rated below 0.15 percent WRMS with DIN weighting. The deck is 43.2 cm wide, 36.3 cm deep and 12.4 cm high, with a weight of 5.5 kg. Outputs are an RCA pair with the selectable phono stage plus the Bluetooth 5.3 link.

Engineering and use context

Drive is by belt, and a built-in sensor keeps watching platter rotation to hold the speed steady. Speed selection is electronic, made at the front panel, so the belt stays in place. A weighted, polished aluminium platter sits on a plinth of engineered wood, which Kanto says gives a stable base that helps cut unwanted vibration during playback. The feet are fixed rather than adjustable. A J-shaped aluminium tonearm carries the cartridge, with both the counterweight and the anti-skate setting open to adjustment so tracking force can be set by the user against clear reference marks, which Kanto links to gentler contact with the records. Cueing is manual through a lever, with a cue-activated start and an auto-stop that stops rotation once a side ends, which Kanto says helps protect the stylus. The dust cover uses flush-mounted hinges. The AT3600L cartridge and its stylus are replaceable, and Kanto notes that the owner is free to upgrade the cartridge later. In the box come a clear dust cover, a felt slip mat, a 45 RPM adapter, the counterweight, a power supply, an RCA cable, a ground cable and a quick start guide.

Pairing

Through a phono/line switch on the RCA output, Kanto states that the deck works with anything from a full hi-fi separates system to a pair of powered speakers. Kanto lists its own Yu4 and Yu6 powered speakers as companions for the deck, together with two accessories from its catalogue, a Turntable Setup and Alignment Kit and an Anti-Static Acrylic Record Mat.
