The TT Level 1.1 is a manual belt-drive turntable from Takumi Recordplayer, a Dutch company whose turntables are designed and built in the Netherlands. Its founder Rik Stoet started Rik Stoet Audio in 1993, first making tube amplifiers under the Heart and StoetKit names as well as tube CD players, and the Takumi turntable project began about ten years ago. Rik Stoet studied electrical engineering and grew up around his grandfather's audio transformer factory. The Level 1.1 was announced in April 2026 at EUR 1,295 and GBP 1,199. It comes in clear or black acrylic.

Key specs that matter

The drive uses an electronically controlled AC motor with electronic switching between 33 1/3 and 45 rpm, with wow and flutter below 0.10%. The solid acrylic platter is 18 mm thick, precision-turned on a CNC lathe and meant to hold the record directly without a mat. The footprint is 430 x 327 mm. Power comes from an external 100-240 V supply that feeds the deck with 12 V DC. UK versions arrive with an Audio Technica AT-3600L cartridge pre-fitted and a fixed RCA lead with a ground wire.

Engineering and use context

Takumi describes the Level 1.1 as its entry deck, and it keeps the construction of the Level 2.1 while swapping the controlled DC motor for a conventional AC motor. The acrylic platter sits on a CNC-machined aluminium sub-platter and is mechanically decoupled from it and from the spindle. The record spindle is reversible and removable, so it can either pass through the record or sit below its surface, letting a record play without touching the spindle. The bearing is a ceramic spindle turning in an oil-filled precision brass sleeve and resting on a hardened steel ball. The tonearm is the same titanium dual-cardanic design used on the Level 2.1DC, with precision bearings and magnetic anti-skating adjustment. The acrylic chassis rests on three decoupled feet. A dust cover, record puck, drive belt, bearing oil and setup tools are supplied.

Pairing

There is no built-in phono preamplifier, so the deck needs an amplifier with a phono input or a separate phono stage. Takumi states that the arm works with moving-magnet as well as moving-coil cartridges, and a moving-coil choice calls for a phono stage with enough gain for low-output designs.

Alternatives

The Takumi TT Level 2.1DC at EUR 1,795 adds a DC motor and the SpeedPod controller with speed trim in 0.01 rpm steps.
