The Yosegi is an MC cartridge made by European Audio Team (EAT) whose body is assembled from many micro-square pieces of different natural woods glued together with special resins, a technique named after the Japanese yosegi marquetry craft.

Key specs that matter

Output is 0.4 mV at 1 kHz and 5 cm/sec, with coil impedance of 12 ohms. Frequency response runs from 15 Hz to 50 kHz, channel separation is 30 dB at 1 kHz and output balance is within 0.5 dB. Recommended vertical tracking force is 1.8 to 2.2 g, and the cartridge weighs 6 g.

Engineering and use context

EAT states that the motor, cantilever and diamond are selected to the standard of the best Japanese-made pickups, and a matching Yosegi wooden headshell is also offered. The low output means the Yosegi should be matched with a high-gain moving-coil stage or an SUT.
