The NT-07 is a network transport from Luxman, the Japanese electronics maker, and the company's first product of this type. Announced in April 2024 at USD 7,495, it contains no DAC of its own. It collects music from streaming services, network storage and USB drives and sends it in digital form to an external converter. A Black Edition Centennial variant has also been produced.
Key specs that matter
The USB 2.0 digital output carries PCM up to 768 kHz and 32 bit and DSD up to 22.5 MHz, equivalent to DSD512. Optical and coaxial outputs handle up to 192 kHz and 24 bit, as does the HDMI output with ARC. Inputs are Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI with ARC for two-channel PCM and 4K pass-through, and two USB 2.0 ports for storage on the front and rear, reading FAT32, exFAT and NTFS drives. Supported file formats are WAV, AIFF, FLAC, ALAC, MQA, MP3, AAC, DSF and DFF. MQA can be switched off, decoded to core level or passed through untouched. The transport draws 27 W with USB storage connected and 5.9 W without, runs on 230 V at 50 Hz or 115 V at 60 Hz, measures 440 x 92 x 398 mm and weighs 10.3 kg.
Engineering and use context
A network transport needs clean power even though it produces no analogue signal, because noise on its supply can reach the digital outputs and the clock. Luxman fits a large-capacity OI-type power transformer and a pair of custom 10,000 µF filter capacitors, followed by regulated low-noise circuits. The high weight for a streamer reflects this power supply and the full-size chassis. Streaming support includes UPnP and OpenHome, TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect, Roon Ready, Qobuz and TuneIn, and music stored on a NAS or on USB drives plays through the Luxman Stream app for iOS and Android. The HDMI ARC input takes audio from a television, which lets the NT-07 act as the digital hub between a television, streaming services and an external DAC. A high-definition organic EL display in amber shows track and format information, and an aluminium RC-30 remote control is supplied. Switching MQA between off, core decoding and pass-through lets the NT-07 work with DACs that have full MQA decoding as well as those that do not.
Pairing
The NT-07 always needs an external DAC. For the highest sample rates and native DSD, the USB output connects to a converter with a USB input, while the coaxial and optical outputs suit DACs and integrated amplifiers with standard S/PDIF inputs. Luxman's own converters and integrated amplifiers with digital inputs complete a single-brand system.
Alternatives
Luxman currently lists the NT-07 as its only network player, and no other streamer appears in its digital range.
