Стримеры — Ideon Audio Nous

The Nous is a streamer, DAC and preamplifier from Ideon Audio, the Greek high-end digital specialist. It combines network streaming, D/A conversion and a fully balanced analogue preamplifier in one chassis. It made its world premiere at High End Vienna in June 2026 and is priced at USD 35,000 in North America.

Key specs that matter

Streaming covers Qobuz Connect, Spotify, AirPlay, UPnP, Audirvana integration, local library playback, NAS rendering and Roon Bridge. Inputs include two pairs of balanced analogue inputs, USB Audio, optical and coaxial. The analogue section is fully differential, with a digitally controlled analogue volume control and a high-current balanced output stage.

Engineering and use context

Ideon states that the Nous was designed from the ground up as a single audio platform, with streaming, conversion, clock management, analogue amplification and power regulation developed together, rather than built around a generic computing board with audio stages added later. Its Real-TimeCore approach dedicates the processing resources to playback tasks, aiming to reduce computational interference, process instability and timing inconsistencies that can reach the analogue output as noise. The signal remains balanced from input to output, which improves channel separation and rejects common-mode noise. Level is set after conversion by a digitally commanded analogue potentiometer, so the DAC always runs at full resolution. The high-current output stage lets the Nous drive power amplifiers directly over long balanced cables. The balanced analogue inputs allow the Nous to serve as the preamplifier for analogue sources as well, such as a phono stage. Ideon also developed a new playback app with a redesigned interface, library management and navigation. The company's earlier Absolute Stream server and Absolute DAC established its reputation in digital playback. Ideon also makes USB reclockers of the 3R family, which reflect the same focus on clean digital transmission. The Vienna demonstration took place on Level 1 of the Austria Centre.

Pairing

The Nous connects directly to power amplifiers or active speakers through its balanced outputs. A phono stage or other analogue source can use its balanced inputs.

Alternatives

Ideon's Absolute Stream is the brand's dedicated music server for use with a separate DAC.
