The Nazaré is a music server and streamer from Innuos, the Portuguese company co-founded by R&D director Nuno Vitorino. Named after the Nazaré Canyon, known for its giant waves, it was announced in 2025 as the result of more than a decade of Innuos's work on digital transports. It feeds an external DAC over USB and can be extended with a NazaréFLOW output stage and a NazaréNET network switch.

Key specs that matter

The Nazaré uses a customised PreciseAudio mainboard with dedicated PreciseUSB and PreciseNET boards, independently powered and connected directly to the CPU. The processor has ten performance cores. Internal SSD storage reaches up to 16 TB. The USB output delivers PCM up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD512 to an external DAC. The software is Innuos Sense, with Roon and UPnP modes and support for Qobuz, Tidal, Deezer and Spotify Connect. The chassis measures 450 x 420 x 186 mm. The base version was priced from EUR 15,000 at launch.

Engineering and use context

Connecting the USB and network boards directly to the CPU bypasses the conventional mainboard implementation, shortening the signal paths and giving each its own supply. The power supply was developed with Dr. Sean Jacobs. It uses GaN-ARC8 modules with active rectification by gallium nitride devices and 376,000 uF of capacitance per module, followed by DC4 regulation modules with low-noise foil resistors and an upgraded NGaN+ regulator with high-performance filters. Power comes from multifilar toroidal transformers and custom Lundahl inductors. The processing power supports Innuos's AudioCore processing. The chassis uses Innuos's SmartStack construction with anti-vibration dampers developed with TONEO, an asymmetrical fascia and cover designed to disperse standing waves, and system-tuned IsoAcoustics isolators. The full Nazaré system can comprise three chassis, the server, the NazaréFLOW modular USB output stage, which works with the Nazaré or any USB source, and the NazaréNET audiophile network switch, powered by the same supply architecture. The Nazaré contains no DAC of its own.

Pairing

The Nazaré needs an external DAC with a USB input that accepts the highest PCM and DSD rates to use its full output. The NazaréFLOW and NazaréNET units complete the system for owners who want every stage of the digital chain from Innuos.

Alternatives

Innuos's STATEMENT NEXT-GEN is the brand's music server positioned below the Nazaré.
