The Miracle is a modular three-piece streaming system from ONIX, the British brand founded in Brighton in the 1980s and now developed together with Shanling. It was launched on 4 September 2023 at USD 4,999 and EUR 4,990. The XM10 is an Android streamer and portable player that docks into the XP10 DAC and headphone amplifier, and the XPS10 is a linear power supply for the stack. The system plays PCM up to 32 bit and 768 kHz, DSD512 and MQA, and it is finished in black.
Key specs that matter
The XM10 runs Android 10 on an eight-core Snapdragon 665 processor, with a 6 inch IPS touchscreen of 2160 x 1080 pixels, 64 GB of storage and microSD expansion up to 2 TB. Its own AKM AK4493SEQ DAC and two RT6863 amplifiers deliver 125 mW single-ended and 230 mW balanced at 32 ohm, with an output impedance of 0.8 to 1.6 ohm, and its 3350 mAh battery lasts up to 18 hours. The XP10 uses an eight-channel ESS ES9039Pro DAC with an XMOS XU316 USB receiver. Its inputs are the USB dock, USB-C, coaxial, optical, Bluetooth with LDAC and RCA, and its line outputs are RCA at 2.2 V and XLR at 4.4 V, plus coaxial and optical. Headphone outputs are XLR, 4.4 mm, 6.35 mm and 3.5 mm, with 1757 mW single-ended and 5600 mW balanced at 32 ohm and output impedance of 0.4 ohm single-ended and 2.4 ohm balanced. Signal to noise ratio is 121 dB single-ended and 124 dB balanced, and frequency response is 20 Hz to 40 kHz. The XP10 weighs 1.4 kg, the XPS10 2.5 kg and the XM10 300 g.
Engineering and use context
Because the streamer runs Android, apps for almost any streaming service can be installed on it, and it can be undocked and carried as a portable player. When docked, it passes its digital stream to the XP10, where the ESS converter and the amplifier stages take over. The XP10 runs its own Ingenic X2000 platform with a 3.2 inch touchscreen and app control. The XPS10 contains two Noratel 30 W toroidal transformers, and its output is switchable between 12 and 24 V, with a mains input switchable for 100 to 110 V or 220 to 240 V. A 1.9 inch display shows its status. Bluetooth 5.0 on the XM10 supports two-way LDAC, LHDC, aptX and aptX HD.
Pairing
RCA and XLR line outputs connect to an integrated amplifier or to power amplifiers, and the headphone outputs have enough power for low-sensitivity planar models as well as sensitive in-ear monitors.
Alternatives
The ONIX Zenith XMT20 is the Linux-based streaming transport without a DAC, with an FPGA I2S output.
