The DMP-A1 is a digital music player from dorpo, a smart-home hardware brand for audio and video with roots in home-cinema media players, and it brings streaming, conversion, preamplification and headphone amplification together. It is the brand's first audio product and went on sale in the UK and Europe in early 2026 at GBP 1,799 including VAT.
Key specs that matter
dorpo fits an ESS ES9039SPro DAC with a high-precision, low-jitter dual clock, a third-generation XMOS XU316 USB processor and TI OPA1612 op-amps. Playback reaches PCM at 32 bit and 768 kHz and native DSD512, with full MQA decoding, and supported files include FLAC, WAV, APE, DSF, DFF, SACD ISO and DST. The USB-B input accepts DSD512 and 768 kHz, optical and coaxial inputs 192 kHz, DoP64 and MQA, and HDMI ARC two-channel PCM at 192 kHz. Digital outputs are USB audio up to DSD512 and 768 kHz and optical and coaxial up to 192 kHz. The analogue section is fully balanced, with XLR and RCA preamplifier outputs and a 12 V trigger input and output. Headphone outputs are 6.35 mm and 4.4 mm balanced for headphones of 16 to 300 ohm. It joins the home network by cable at gigabit speed or wirelessly over two-band Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth runs on a Qualcomm QCC5181. The player measures 290 x 200 x 78 mm and weighs 3.4 kg.
Engineering and use context
A linear supply powers the audio circuits and a separate low-noise switching supply serves the digital circuits, keeping processor noise away from the analogue side. An internal M.2 NVMe slot takes an SSD of up to 8 TB, not included, and two USB 3.0 ports on the rear and one USB 2.0 port on the front accept external drives. Streaming covers TIDAL, Spotify, Qobuz, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Highresaudio, plus Roon Ready, TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay and DLNA. The software is FunplayUI, based on Android 12, shown on a 127 mm HD touchscreen, with the dp SmartController app for iOS and Android and a metal infrared remote. The case is thick machined aluminium with a frosted finish and an LED volume dial whose colour can be customised.
Pairing
Power amplifiers and active speakers connect straight to the balanced XLR outputs, and the RCA outputs feed an integrated amplifier. A television connects through HDMI ARC.
Alternatives
dorpo makes no other streamer, as the DMP-A1 is its first and only audio product.
