The Enyo 15TH is the entry model among the R-2R ladder DACs from Denafrips, released as part of the 15th Anniversary range. It uses a true balanced design in which each channel is decoded by four sets of R-2R networks, and the US price is USD 699, with EU pricing at EUR 850.

Key specs that matter

PCM is accepted at 24-bit and 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 and 192 kHz on every input, while USB extends support to PCM1536 and DSD1024. Frequency response runs from 20 Hz to 70 kHz at -3 dB. The RCA output is rated at 2.0 V RMS with 625 ohm source impedance, and the XLR output delivers 4.0 V RMS at 1250 ohm. THD+N is 0.004 percent and S/N is 115 dB. The case measures 215 mm wide, 230 mm deep and 45 mm high, plus 18 mm for the feet, and weighs 3.5 kg. Power draw is 20 W or less from a 100 to 240 V AC, 50 or 60 Hz supply.

Engineering and use context

The ladder is built from low thermal effect resistors hand-matched to 0.01 percent tolerance, combined with a 6-bit DSD section alongside the 24-bit R-2R conversion. Denafrips says the multiple-network layout keeps linear error small, decoding speed high and digital noise low. Incoming data passes through an FPGA-based FIFO buffer and is reclocked by femto crystal oscillators. The owner can choose NOS or OS operation and, in oversampling mode, a slow or sharp filter. The 15th Anniversary update added an I2S input and a redesigned anodised aluminium chassis, and internal wiring uses UPOCC copper. EU buyers receive a three-year warranty.

Pairing

Digital sources connect through four inputs - coaxial, TOSLink, I2S and USB 2.0 Type B - allowing a computer, a disc transport and a streamer to stay connected together. On the analogue side, the balanced XLR outputs suit a preamplifier or integrated amplifier with differential inputs, while the unbalanced RCA sockets serve amplifiers with single-ended inputs only. The unit is manufactured in Singapore. Across both outputs the maker's data spans 0.002 to 0.05 percent THD, the higher figure on RCA, and 110 to 120 dB S/N depending on configuration. Denafrips also lists the Pontus 15th, Venus 15th, Terminator 15th and Terminator-Plus 15th above it, all sharing the R-2R approach at higher cost and complexity, while the new Erato joins the catalogue as a separate model.
