The Atlantic 3 TRP is a valve-based digital-to-analogue converter from the Polish maker LampizatOr. The Atlantic line was redesigned from early 2019 mainly so that owners could change output tubes freely, and the letters TRP stand for Tube Rollers Paradise. In November 2025 the company renamed the model Atlantic-5 TRP to keep its naming in step with the Amber 5, Baltic 5, Pacific 5 and Golden Gate 5.
Key specs that matter
The output stage takes power tetrodes and pentodes on an octal base, all running from one common 6.3 V heater supply. Listed compatible types include the EL34, KT66, KT77, KT88, KT90, KT120, KT150, KT170, 6L6, 6V6, 6550, 6CA7 and 5881, and 5U4G, 5Y3, GZ34, GZ37, 274B, 5C3S and 5R4WGBA tubes can be fitted as rectifier diodes. Conversion is handled by the Engine Eleven digital board, which accepts PCM and DSD files up to DSD512. Compared with the previous version, the third generation has four digital input types instead of three, and the latest units add a pair of analogue inputs, RCA and XLR, for six inputs in total.
Engineering and use context
LampizatOr builds the power supply around tubes, with choke-input CLC filtering, and couples the output through copper capacitors. Buyers choose among four basic configurations - single-ended RCA without volume control, single-ended RCA with a preamplifier and volume stage, fully balanced plus RCA without volume, and fully balanced plus RCA with volume. The balanced version is built as a true balanced circuit rather than by phase doubling. Both analogue inputs pass through the tube stages, so the unit with volume can act as a line preamplifier for a turntable stage or tuner. A monochrome OLED screen replaced the older LCD, signal routing is set in software, and a computer does not need extra drivers for the USB link. Owners of the Atlantic 2 to 4 can have the newer Engine Twelve board retrofitted, and the upgraded parts then carry a three-year warranty, tubes excluded.
Pairing
The version with volume control can feed a power amplifier directly with no line stage in between, whereas the fixed-output builds connect to any spare high-level input on an integrated or a preamp. Balanced builds connect to power amplifiers or preamplifiers fitted with XLR sockets, and the choice of output tube type lets the owner match the unit to the rest of the chain without changing the circuit.
Alternatives
The LampizatOr Baltic 5 is a smaller converter in the same catalogue for buyers who want the brand's tube output at a lower level of the range.
