The STUDIOMASTER CD100 is a compact CD player from Revox, announced in May 2026 at EUR 1,895 and built for the company's Multiuser 3.0 ecosystem. Rather than being planned as a standalone unit, it was conceived as the disc drive for the STUDIOMASTER M500 and M300 systems, while also working with older Revox receivers.
Key specs that matter
The transport runs at constant linear velocity and reads CD-DA as well as CD-R. Conversion runs through a Burr-Brown PCM1796 DAC feeding an analogue output, with coaxial and optical digital outputs next to it. Frequency response is 5 Hz to 20 kHz. THD+N stays under 0.0019% at the analogue output and under 0.0018% at the digital output, signal to noise exceeds 110 dB at 1 kHz, and dynamic range reaches 118 dB. Height is 88 mm, width 200 mm and depth 342 mm, with a weight of about 3 kg. Revox offers black, white and silver versions.
Engineering and use context
Revox builds the case from solid aluminium and closes it with a glass front panel. Linking the player to an M500 or M300 takes a coaxial digital cable plus a dedicated control cable, and Revox packs both of them, along with a power cord, with the player. Once connected, the system configures itself - the input is renamed CD Player, its display icon changes, and status messages such as Reading, Play, Pause, Stop, No CD and Read Error appear. Track selection and elapsed time show up both in the Multiuser app and on the front panel of the M500 or M300. The CD100 switches on by itself when chosen as a source and shuts down when the listener moves to another input. Besides the front buttons and the app, it accepts IR commands in RC5 code and RS232 control, so Revox control systems paired with an M500 or M300 can operate it as well. Power draw is 0 W when off, 0.4 W in standby and 7.5 W, plus or minus 1.5 W, while playing. For owners of the earlier Joy S119 or S120 MKII network receivers, the CD-Link interface keeps backward compatibility.
Pairing
The natural partners are the STUDIOMASTER M500 and M300, where the player becomes part of one system operated from a single app. With any other stereo amplifier or integrated amplifier, the analogue output connects directly, and the coaxial or optical outputs let an external DAC or a digital input on a receiver take over conversion.
Alternatives
The Revox Joy S22 CD player is a slightly shallower player with the same front dimensions that links to Joy receivers through CD-Link.
