The Signature Sub 8 is the powered subwoofer of the wired Signature range from System Audio A/S, the Roskilde company founded in 1984. System Audio states that the cabinet is about three times smaller than a traditional subwoofer.

Inside a closed box are two 8 inch Signature Vulcano long-stroke woofers, one in each side panel. The amplifier is rated at 550 W RMS and 650 W peak. With the woofers firing outward in opposite directions, their reaction forces act against each other, which System Audio uses to cancel cabinet vibration. Inputs on the back are a stereo RCA line connection and a separate LFE input. With the line input in use, a variable crossover between 25 Hz and 100 Hz filters the signal, whereas the LFE input bypasses that filter and leaves bass management to the surround receiver. A phase switch selects 0 or 180 degrees, a volume knob sets the level, and a three-position selector offers permanent on, off or auto mode, where the sub wakes with a signal and returns to standby after 15 to 20 minutes of silence. The box contains the subwoofer, four silicone feet and a power cord, and signal cables are not included. System Audio specifies a 10 hour burn-in and gives a 2-year production warranty plus 7 years on the drive units after registration. Repairs under warranty are handled by affiliated service workshops, and any change to the design voids the cover. A power indicator and a separate mains switch sit on the rear panel next to the socket for the power cable.
