The RS10 is the active subwoofer of the R series that Axelvox introduced in 2025 alongside the R5 and R6 near-field monitors. Axelvox was set up in 2005 inside the iconBIT holding, with headquarters in Hong Kong and an engineering team in Shenzhen, and its main markets are Europe and Russia, where it sells wireless microphone systems, studio headphones and loudspeakers. The RS10 is aimed at studios that need to extend the low end of monitors with woofers from 4 to 8 inches.

Key specs that matter

A 10-inch composite woofer with a 2-inch voice coil is driven by a class AB amplifier rated at 150 W continuous and 270 W peak. The quoted frequency range is 36 Hz to 150 Hz, and maximum sound pressure reaches 117 dB. An internal active crossover with an adjustable low-pass point between 50 Hz and 120 Hz sets where the woofer stops. Input impedance is 10 kOhm. The cabinet is made of MDF, is tuned with a bass reflex port, and measures 382 x 355 x 398 mm at a weight of 18 kg.

Engineering and use context

The inputs cover three connector types - two balanced XLR, two balanced 6.35 mm jack and two unbalanced RCA - so the subwoofer can be fed from a studio interface, a monitor controller or a consumer source without adapters. Twin XLR outputs plus twin RCA outputs feed the satellite monitors from the subwoofer. A sensitivity control matches the subwoofer level to the rest of the system, and a polarity switch with 0 and 180 degree positions lets the user choose the phase relation between the woofer and the monitors. Beyond stereo bass extension, the maker lists control of the lowest octave and handling of the LFE channel in multichannel setups among its tasks.

Pairing

The obvious partners are the R5, with a 5.25-inch woofer, a 1-inch tweeter and a 50 W class AB amplifier covering 60 Hz to 20 kHz, and the R6, with a 6.5-inch woofer and a split 50 W plus 30 W amplifier reaching down to 50 Hz. With either model the crossover sits at the upper part of its range, so the monitors hand over the region where their own output falls away. The maker also names other compact monitors in the 4 to 8 inch class as suitable satellites, and the balanced outputs allow long cable runs to them. For a compact studio this makes the RS10 the bass section of a 2.1 system in which the monitors cover everything above the chosen crossover point.

Alternatives

The Axelvox TR10S is an active subwoofer with a 10-inch reinforced fibreglass driver, designed to extend the TR55A, TR66A and TR88A studio monitors.
