The Foundry F12 is a sealed powered subwoofer from PS Audio, the American electronics maker from Boulder, Colorado, and the company's first subwoofer. It was announced on 9 February 2026 at USD 2,749 and is designed as the bass complement to PS Audio's Aspen loudspeakers. It is the only model in the Foundry line so far.

Key specs that matter

The custom 12 inch ultra-long-throw driver has a linear excursion of 60 mm peak to peak and a mechanical limit of 80 mm. It uses a composite cone, a large Nomex spider, dual shorting rings and an undercut pole piece. A 1000 W continuous amplifier with an 1800 W power supply drives it. Response is -6 dB at 20 Hz measured in ground-plane conditions and ±0.5 dB up to 500 Hz. Maximum output is 113 dB at 2 m. Inputs are RCA with 50 kOhm impedance and XLR with 100 kOhm. Mains input is 120 or 230 V with automatic sensing, and idle consumption is 40 W. The cabinet is 375 mm wide, 425 mm high and 445 mm deep, or 460 mm deep with the grille, and it weighs 35 kg. The cabinet is finished in satin black or satin white paint.

Engineering and use context

Without a port, every bit of bass output comes from the cone itself, and the air sealed inside the box works as a spring on its rear side. To reach low frequencies from a sealed box, the driver needs long excursion and a powerful amplifier, which explains the long linear travel and the high amplifier rating. The dual shorting rings reduce changes in the voice coil's inductance as it moves through the gap, and the undercut pole piece keeps the magnetic field more even over long excursions. Both measures aim to keep the driver's behaviour linear at high output. The Nomex spider stays stable under the forces of a large cone moving this far. The Foundry app for iOS and Android controls volume, crossover, delay, phase, parametric EQ, high-pass and low-pass filters and presets. An optional WiSA transmitter at USD 199 allows a wireless connection, and a stacking kit at USD 99 lets two units be combined.

Pairing

The F12 is designed to work with PS Audio's Aspen series speakers, connecting through RCA or XLR to a preamplifier or processor output. The XLR input suits PS Audio's balanced preamplifiers and DACs, and the stacking kit allows a second unit to be placed on top of the first.

Alternatives

PS Audio has no other subwoofer in its range.
