The Alfa 1.05 is a compact active subwoofer from the Russian brand Radiotehnika and the lower priced of the two subwoofers in its Alfa series. It is aimed at small rooms, three-piece stereo systems built from two satellites and a subwoofer, and home theatre, and it can join the Alfa bookshelf, floorstanding and centre models in anything up to a 5.1 layout. Production takes place in China, the recommended price in Russia is 27,990 roubles, with a one year guarantee. It was announced in January 2026.

Key specs that matter

A 20 cm (8 inch) long-throw woofer with a mica-filled polypropylene diaphragm is driven by a 60 W class D amplifier, and the rated range runs from 38 to 150 Hz at -3 dB. Signal to noise is stated at more than 90 dB. Power consumption peaks at about 75 W, and the universal supply accepts 100 to 240 V AC. It is 270 mm wide, 329 mm high and 329 mm deep, weighing 9.2 kg, and black ash vinyl over MDF is the single finish offered.

Engineering and use context

Inside, amplification is handled by a Neofidelity NTP8230G class D chip, fed from an internal mains supply rather than an external adapter. Bass reflex loading uses a slot port with a flared mouth, placed low on the front baffle, and its MDF panels are about 2 cm thick. Synthetic fibre damping lines the inside to keep the cabinet rigid and free of panel vibration, and rubber feet about 1.5 cm high decouple it from the floor. The rear panel carries a continuous level control, a crossover frequency control adjustable from 40 to 120 Hz and a 0 or 180 degree phase switch. An automatic standby mode is built in. There is no remote control, so all adjustments are made at the rear of the cabinet. A removable grille made of fabric stretched over an MDF frame, a 1.8 m IEC power cable and a Russian-language manual are supplied, but an RCA signal cable must be bought separately.

Pairing

Connection is through a single RCA line input with 300 mV sensitivity for full output, and it takes a line-level stereo or LFE feed from a home theatre receiver, a stereo amplifier with a sub output or active speakers. Within the brand it suits the Alfa 1.01 MKII bookshelf speakers of the same series as well as the Radiotehnika S-10NA active bookshelf speakers, and in a stereo system its crossover control sets where the small main speakers hand over the lowest octaves.
