Напольная акустика — Zu Audio UNION SUPREME 6

The Union Supreme 6 is the top version of the Union 6 floorstanding series, announced in 2022 by Zu Audio, an American company that hand builds its loudspeakers. It combines the 10.3 inch widebander of the Soul 6 with a concentrically loaded Eminence ring radiator, and it starts at USD 5,180 per matched pair with a 5-year limited warranty on materials and workmanship.

Key specs that matter

The main driver is the ZuCX-ND-8-N151M, a coaxial unit with a cone of paper reinforced by carbon nanotubes, plus an under-hung 2 inch voice coil wound on a paper and Kapton former. The tweeter is an Eminence N151M. Sensitivity is 99 dB SPL with 2.8 V, measured about 1 m from the driver face, and the impedance is 8 ohm nominal across the full spectrum. Zu lists bandwidth as 30 Hz to 29 kHz as an in-room average, with a maximum program level of 120 dB (Z-weighted, slow). Two upgrades set the Supreme apart from the lower Union 6 versions, namely the tweeter capacitor and the internal wiring, both covered below. Each cabinet measures 30.5 x 30.5 x 91.5 cm and weighs 27 kg.

Engineering and use context

A conventional crossover is absent, since the full-range driver runs without any filter components. The tweeter alone is fed through a single-element mono pole high-pass built from a 1.0 microfarad Jupiter Copper capacitor. Internal wiring is the Zu Event Mk.II loom with silver-plated connections. Compared with earlier Zu towers, the Supreme uses revised ZuGriewe and scatter plate internals that remove the floor gap and let the main driver vent through a rear exit, so placement is possible just 5 cm away from the wall behind it. Cabinets are made from North American composite wood covered with real wood veneer or epoxy, in Satin Black or White, Starlight, Cosmic Carbon, Mercury Silver, several Hickory options, American Walnut or custom finishes. The packed speaker ships in a 43 x 46 x 104 cm carton weighing 32 kg.

Pairing

Zu recommends amplifier power anywhere between 2 and 150 W depending on the desired level, so low-power single-ended valve amplifiers and larger transistor designs are both workable. Connection is through the ZuB3 terminal block with a speakON NL8 socket wired in parallel with binding posts that accept 6.3 mm spades, bare wire up to #4 AWG or banana plugs.

Alternatives

Zu Audio's Soul 6 is a floorstanding alternative built around the same widebander with a coaxial super-tweeter in an all-okoume cabinet.
