The Ultra Evolution Titan is a three-way tower loudspeaker belonging to the SVS Ultra Evolution family, which SVS positions for reference music and home theater systems. It is listed at USD 1,999.99 per speaker in white or black piano gloss or in real black oak veneer, and it shares its diamond coated tweeter with the Ultra Evolution Bookshelf.
Key specs that matter
SVS fits a 1 inch diamond coated aluminium dome tweeter, two 4.5 inch glass fibre composite midrange units and four 6.5 inch glass fibre woofers. Crossover points are 1.9 kHz between tweeter and midrange and 160 Hz between midrange and woofers. SVS quotes a response of 27 Hz to 40 kHz within plus or minus 3 dB, a nominal impedance of 6 ohm and sensitivity of 88 dB with 2.83 V at 1 m in full space over 300 Hz to 3 kHz, with 20 to 300 watts recommended. The cabinet measures 1182 mm high, 249 mm wide and 439.3 mm deep, or 1197 mm tall with grille, feet and binding posts, and weighs 31.6 kg unboxed.
Engineering and use context
SVS calls the layout acoustically centred time alignment. The midrange pair and woofer groups are placed around the tweeter in rotational symmetry, so that low, mid and high frequencies come from one effective point, and the curved baffle adds microsecond-level delays that bring the acoustic centre of each driver to the same distance from the listener. The woofers form a force-balanced array in which each front-firing unit is matched inside the cabinet by a rear-firing one, cancelling mechanical energy on the enclosure. Woofers and midrange drivers have separate tuned internal chambers. The midrange units use vented Kapton voice coil formers, the woofers have long-stroke motors and vented aluminium formers, and all cone drivers sit in precision-cast aluminium alloy baskets. The tweeter uses silver tinsel leads and an organic cell lattice diffuser, the crossover is built on a heavy-trace board, and two 2.5 inch flared ports fire to the rear. The front baffle is chamfered and the cloth grille attaches with neodymium magnets.
Pairing
A 6 ohm load with an upper recommendation of 300 watts suits high-current stereo amplifiers or multichannel power amps in a cinema system. Dual gold-plated 5-way binding posts permit bi-amp or bi-wire connection, and both elastomer and spiked metal screw-in feet adjustable for level are supplied.
