The TITAN is a three-way loudspeaker from Audionostrum, built in Barcelona, Spain, and the first model of the brand's Monitor Luxury series. The series takes its cue from classic studio monitors and pairs that layout with modern engineering. The price was announced as EUR 165,000 per pair, and custom finishes can be ordered. The maker describes it as combining the high sensitivity of professional studio monitors with the finish of high-end domestic speakers.

Key specs that matter

The driver set comes from TAD professional units. Bass is handled by a 15-inch woofer with an Alnico magnet, the midrange by a 2-inch beryllium dome driver with an Alnico magnet in a horn, and the top octaves by an Alnico super-tweeter in a horn. Sensitivity is 97 dB at 1 W and 1 m and nominal impedance is 8 ohm. Frequency response is 22 Hz to 35 kHz. Recommended amplifier power runs from 15 to 300 W per channel. Each speaker is 153 cm high, 70 cm wide and 52 cm deep, and weighs 160 kg net.

Engineering and use context

The crossover is housed in a separate external enclosure rather than inside the speaker cabinet. It uses Duelund and Mundorf components, the internal wiring is Duelund, and the unit links to the speaker through three umbilical cables. Two autoformers inside the crossover box allow fine adjustment of driver levels through controls on its front panel, and the crossover is wired in air. Duelund cable is used for the external wiring as well. The cabinet combines three different types of wood to counteract resonances. Besides the TITAN and the Jupiter, the Audionostrum range lists the Saturn, Venus, Triton, Pandora and Mercury. Audionostrum describes its approach as a mix of hand work and current technology, using materials that range from handcrafted natural wood to 3D-printed parts in exotic materials.

Pairing

Audionostrum states that its efficiency and benign impedance make the TITAN suitable for both valve and transistor amplifiers. That opens the choice to low-powered single-ended triode designs at the bottom of the power window as well as high-power solid-state amplifiers at the top of it.

Alternatives

The Audionostrum Jupiter is a floorstanding model about 2 m tall with a 15-inch woofer and the brand's Orbital Driver System.
