Напольная акустика — Bassboss Sublim8

The Sublim8 is a three-way active column loudspeaker from Bassboss, the company based in Austin, Texas, founded by designer David Lee. It was announced in October 2025 for mobile DJs, live performers, houses of worship and event venues. Bassboss calls it the Column Crusher, since it aims to deliver full PA bass and output in a column format.

Key specs that matter

Drivers are a long-excursion 18 in neodymium subwoofer, two 8 in mid-bass drivers and a 3 in high-frequency compression driver. Amplification totals 4,000 W in Class D, with 2,400 W for the subwoofer and 800 W for each of the mid and high sections. Frequency response is 35 Hz to 19 kHz. Peak SPL is 133 dB and maximum sustained output 130 dB. Dispersion is 120 degrees horizontal and 20 degrees vertical. The enclosure is birch plywood, in textured black or white. Protection includes soft-clip limiting and thermal, short-circuit and DC offset protection. A transport dolly with four locking casters is included.

Engineering and use context

Most column loudspeakers use arrays of small drivers, which limits bass output and extension. The Sublim8 combines a column with an 18 in subwoofer in its base, so a single system replaces the usual stack of tops and separate subwoofers. Each of the three bands has its own amplifier, and DSP handles the crossover, equalisation and limiting. Raising the mid and high sections above the audience keeps them clear of the listeners nearest the stage, so sound reaches the back of the room with less loss. The narrow 20 degree vertical pattern directs energy towards the audience and away from the ceiling and floor, reducing reflections in reverberant venues, while the 120 degree horizontal pattern covers wide rooms evenly. A compression driver gives high sensitivity and output in the treble, suited to large spaces. Birch plywood is strong and relatively light, suitable for a portable enclosure that must withstand transport. The Sublim8 is a professional sound reinforcement product rather than a domestic hi-fi loudspeaker, and it is designed for quick setup at events.

Pairing

The Sublim8 needs only a mixer or DJ controller output. Two units form a stereo system for venues and events.

Alternatives

The BASSBOSS Krakatoa is the brand's other full range powered system, a point source design built around five 18 inch drivers.
