Напольная акустика — Pbn Audio STUDIO REFERENCE 14

The Studio Reference 14 is a floorstanding loudspeaker from PBN Audio, an American manufacturer with a considerable reputation built substantially on professional studio-monitoring applications before extending into consumer high-end audio. The Studio Reference designation directly reflects that professional heritage, positioning this model as an accurate reference tool as much as a domestic loudspeaker.

Key specs that matter

Rated response is 30Hz to 40,000Hz within plus-or-minus 3dB - a wide bandwidth reflecting PBN's professional monitoring background, where accurate reproduction across the full audible spectrum and beyond is treated as a baseline requirement rather than a marketing claim. Sensitivity is a notably high 93dB into a demanding 4 ohm load, an efficient figure for a floorstanding design of this scale, suggesting careful driver and crossover optimisation aimed at maximising the acoustic output extracted from a given amplifier watt. At 43.18 x 45.7 x 119.3cm and 83.9kg, the Studio Reference 14 represents a substantial floorstanding commitment consistent with genuine studio-monitoring durability and internal bracing requirements.

Sound and use context

Expect the accurate, uncoloured character PBN Audio's professional studio-monitoring heritage is built around - the high 93dB sensitivity combined with the wide bandwidth suggests a design engineered to reveal recording detail honestly rather than flatter it, a quality professional engineers specifically value when making critical mixing and mastering decisions.

Pairing

The high 93dB sensitivity means the Studio Reference 14 reaches satisfying volumes readily even from moderate amplification, though the demanding 4 ohm impedance still rewards an amplifier with reasonable current delivery to fully exploit its dynamic and resolving capability.

Alternatives

PBN Audio's broader Studio Reference range, including models at different scales within the same professional-monitoring design philosophy, offers alternatives for buyers wanting either a more compact or larger expression of this accuracy-focused engineering approach for a specific room. PBN Audio's transition from purely professional installations into consumer high-end audio brings a different set of priorities than boutique audiophile-only brands typically apply, favouring measured accuracy and long-term durability over stylistic flourish.
