The Signature 809 is a passive four-way floorstanding loudspeaker from MAGNAT, designed and developed in Germany. It combines a double bass driver arrangement with bass-reflex loading and is listed at EUR 1,299 per piece. Two finishes are offered, satin black and satin white, each with a multi-layer satin lacquer on the front baffle and a scratch-resistant vinyl wrap in the same colour on the rest of the cabinet.

Engineering and use context

Two 200 mm woofers handle the lowest octaves, a 170 mm midrange covers the middle band, a 30 mm fmax dome tweeter handles the treble and a 20 mm super-tweeter extends the top end. The tweeters use neodymium magnet systems. Woofers and midrange use a three-layer 3L sandwich cone of ceramic, aluminium and ceramic, aimed at high stiffness and fewer unwanted resonances, and a ventilated voice coil for heat dissipation. MAGNAT optimised each driver with Klippel measurement technology. Acoustic 24 dB slopes are used in a crossover tuned for both phase and amplitude, built with high-grade parts. The grey ceramic cones are a MAGNAT hallmark, and the woofers wear decorative trim rings. The MDF enclosure is vented through dual Airflex ports, which MAGNAT designed to minimise airflow noise. Large terminals with gold-plated contacts accept cables of big cross-section, the fabric grille is removable, and height-adjustable metal feet carry interchangeable spikes.

Within the Signature series, MAGNAT designed the Signature 809 to combine with the Signature Center Pro centre speaker, a pair of ATM 202 Atmos surround modules and the Omega CS 12 subwoofer for a home cinema system. The same combination is offered for the other Signature models, the 999, 607, 603 and Edelstein. The satin black version carries order code D147310, and the satin white version is listed as D147312.
