The Rudi MK2 is a three-way floor-standing speaker built by Wiener Lautsprecher Manufaktur, the Austrian company trading as WLM. It was presented for the first time at HIGH END Vienna 2026, one of three anniversary models shown in the year WLM marked 25 years in business, alongside the 300 B and the Ella MK2. The goal was to join the qualities of the compact Ella series with the scale of a floorstanding cabinet in a current design. The launch price was EUR 14,900.

Key specs that matter

Four drivers are fitted per cabinet, and every one of them uses a paper diaphragm. The bass section has two 8-inch units, the midrange is a single 6.5-inch cone, and treble is handled by a cone tweeter rather than a dome or ribbon. Bass loading uses the reflex principle. The cabinet stands 112 cm tall without a stand, 40 cm wide and only 22 cm deep, so the speaker is broad and shallow rather than a narrow, deep tower. WLM does not publish a sensitivity figure, impedance value, frequency range, crossover points or weight for this model.

Engineering and use context

The two bass drivers are arranged so that one fires upward and the other downward. WLM describes this layout as borrowed from its large active speaker concepts, where it has become a signature of the brand. Midrange and tweeter share exactly the same membrane material, a choice the company makes to keep the upper two bands consistent with each other. Inside the cabinet, four separate reflex channels are built into the enclosure, and WLM calls this construction a technical innovation responsible for the transition between the specialised drivers. For interiors, any colour from the RAL palette can be ordered for the finish, which lets the speaker be matched to a specific room or architectural scheme.

Pairing

WLM states that the high efficiency and benign impedance curve of the Rudi MK2 make it an explicit suggestion for owners of good valve amplifiers, and for listeners who do not want to rely on high amplifier power. The in-house match is the Josef S, a compact WLM integrated amplifier with Class D output stages rated at 2 x 175 W, an analogue preamplifier section, a switchable preamp output, dual-mono layout, Bluetooth reception and a streaming module. An MM/MC phono stage is optional on the Josef S, and its controls include bass adjustment plus treble equalisation and phase matching at 8 kHz. Its frequency response is given as 15 Hz to 90 kHz within 3 dB, and it weighs 7 kg.

Alternatives

The WLM Maria is a fully active floorstander with 800 W per side, AMT tweeters and race-track bass drivers in a 104 cm tall, 34 kg cabinet.
