The Rhino is a large active monitor from Telegrapher, the Istanbul-based loudspeaker maker founded by CEO Erce Kaslioglu and CTO Emre Telci, a longtime loudspeaker designer. It is a four-way main reference monitor for mixing and mastering, and it was shown at NAMM 2025. Telegrapher speakers are hand-built in Istanbul at the factory of Kaslioglu's automotive parts company, and the brand debuted at NAMM 2024.
Key specs that matter
Drivers are a 12.5 in (32 cm) lower bass woofer, a 7 in (18 cm) upper bass woofer, a 4.5 in (12 cm) midrange and a 1 in (2.5 cm) tweeter. Frequency response is 20 Hz to 20 kHz, and peak SPL is 112.5 dB. The enclosure is sealed. Amplification is two built-in 500 W Class D amplifiers per speaker. The crossover is a hybrid analogue design. A switch selects between XLR and RCA inputs.
Engineering and use context
Most monitors split the bass and midrange between two drivers. The Rhino adds a dedicated upper bass driver, so the large woofer handles only the lowest range while the second unit covers the upper bass, and the midrange driver is freed from bass duties. Each driver then works over a narrower band, reducing its excursion and distortion. The crossover combines active and passive elements, taking advantage of active filtering where the amplifiers divide the signal and passive networks where they suit the driver. Telegrapher keeps the signal path fully analogue, without DSP. A sealed enclosure rolls off gradually and has better transient behaviour than a ported box, and Telegrapher states that it avoids port noise. The cabinet has large, smoothly curved edges that reduce diffraction, the scattering of sound at sharp edges. Built-in amplification means each speaker needs only a line-level signal. Telegrapher is a sustaining member of the AES. Rammstein is cited among its professional users. Cabinets come in several matte colours, with custom finishes on request. Telegrapher's users include deadmau5, with whom it produced a co-branded edition.
Pairing
The Rhino needs only a monitor controller, DAC or preamplifier with XLR or RCA outputs. Its size and output suit control rooms and large living rooms.
Alternatives
Telegrapher's Gorilla is the brand's sealed three-way midfield monitor with an 8.5 in woofer.
