The Quantum Signature is a three-way floorstanding speaker with its own amplifiers and DSP from Venture Audio, a company with bases in Belgium and Singapore that has spent more than 35 years on loudspeaker building. It was the second active model to join the Quantum Series, following the Quantum 8, and Venture first showed it at high end exhibitions in 2017. Within the current Quantum range it sits between the Quantum 8 and the four-way Grand Extreme.

Key specs that matter

Seven drivers per side are split into three bands. A 32 mm beryllium tweeter in a stainless steel housing covers the top, two 6.5 inch AGC units handle the midrange and four 8.5 inch AGC woofers take the bass. Three class D channels deliver a combined 2500 W. Venture quotes a frequency response of 20 Hz to 40,000 Hz at the minus 6 dB points, and the peak output figure is 123 dB at one metre. Inputs are one balanced analogue connection and one AES digital connection. The cabinet stands 157 cm tall, 70 cm wide and 65 cm deep, and each speaker weighs 90 kg.

Engineering and use context

Filtering and driver control happen inside a SHARC processor running at 300 MHz, so there is no passive network between the amplifiers and the drivers. Because each amplifier channel feeds one driver group directly, the processor can set crossover points, levels and time alignment for every band, which a set of fixed coils and capacitors cannot adjust after assembly. Venture states that its beryllium tweeter reaches more than 100 dB at 2.83 V and that it developed the unit specifically for the Quantum active models. The AGC cones are made from a graphite composite built on abaca fibre pulp, the same family of material found across the Venture passive ranges. The enclosure bonds several materials that resonate at different frequencies, a constrained layer approach meant to cancel panel vibration. The standard finish is hand-picked Elm Burl veneer under a thick, hand-polished polyester lacquer, with Black Polyester and Sapele Pomele offered as other choices. The speaker rests on mirror-finished stainless steel pedestals fitted with adjustable Venture Sound points, and internal wiring uses Venture cables.

Pairing

With power on board, all the system asks for is a balanced analogue feed from a preamp or source, or a digital source that sends an AES stream straight into the speaker. The Venture VP 200DT preamplifier with DAC is the in-house option for this role. Each cabinet must be connected to its own mains outlet.
