The ONEIROS is a three-way tower that launched Oneiros Audio, a company based in the Motorsport Valley area of the UK and led by CEO Jerry Bloomfield, who also heads Falcon Acoustics. The team drew on materials and methods from Formula 1 car building. The speaker was presented on 5 December 2024 at The Power Station Studios in New York City, where the band Living Colour played and their recording was then replayed through the pair. The price was set at USD 650,000 per pair, with deliveries planned for early in the first quarter of 2025.

Key specs that matter

Two 10-inch woofers with Twaron and graphene nano-composite cones, 3-inch voice coils, dual suspension and 8.2 kg magnets allow up to 50 mm of excursion. Two 3-inch domes of Dyneema and graphene composite cover the midrange, and a 1-inch CVD diamond dome sourced from an OEM supplier takes the top. Oneiros quotes 20 Hz to 35,000 Hz and 90 dB at 2.83 V. Nominal impedance is 4 ohm with a minimum of 2.6 ohm at 90 Hz, and the power rating runs from 100 W to 750 W. Each speaker is 1,610 mm tall plus 65 mm of spikes, 575 mm wide and 760 mm deep at the widest points, and weighs 140 kg.

Engineering and use context

A monocoque forms the cabinet, made with the carbon-fibre pre-preg sandwich method used for F1 bodywork - two carbon skins of varying thickness bonded with resin to a profiled high-performance foam core. Its organic outline came from generative design and more than 100 hours of CAD refinement, and the finishing is done by automotive specialists who also work for Rolls-Royce and McLaren. The front baffle and the footplate are machined from aluminium billets that start at over 540 kg and end at about 22 kg and 21 kg. The midrange domes and the diamond tweeter share single-layer ribbon CCAW voice coils wound underhung on titanium formers. The crossover sits on custom gold-plated circuit boards and uses Mundorf MCap SUPREME EVO SilverGold.Oil capacitors for the mid and treble, MCap EVO SilverGold.Oil capacitors for the bass, MCoil CF copper-foil inductors and MResist ultra HS 30 W resistors, all held to tolerances of 1 to 3 percent. Internal wiring is micro-strand OFC copper of 651 strands of 0.07 mm with TPE insulation.

Pairing

The deep impedance dip in the bass region needs amplification that remains stable and supplies high current into very low loads, such as a large solid-state stereo unit or a pair of monoblocks.

Alternatives

The ONEIROS is the only model Oneiros Audio has announced, so the company has no second floorstander to compare it with.
