The Model T10 is one of the partial line array floorstanding models of the Bryston T10 series. Bryston builds each speaker in Canada, finishes it in real wood veneer, and backs it with a 20 year warranty to the original owner.

Key specs that matter

The Model T10 is a three-way vented tower with ten drivers. Two 1 inch tweeters and two 5.25 inch midranges work above four 8 inch woofers, and the crossover points sit at 250 Hz and 2 kHz. Bryston specifies 25 Hz to 20 kHz within 3 dB and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms. Sensitivity is 88 dB at 1 W and 1 m measured anechoically and 92 dB measured in a room. Bryston states that this model can play at up to 118 dB before distortion sets in. Each speaker is 1830 mm tall, 310 mm wide and 440 mm deep and weighs 61 kg.

Engineering and use context

As a partial line array, the Model T10 radiates sound outward as an expanding cylinder, as if from a line in space, instead of the sphere of a point source. Bryston lists more uniform level across the listening area and fewer cancellations from floor and ceiling reflections among the benefits, and notes that woofers placed at four points on the baffle pressurize the room from separate locations. Running several drivers in parallel lets the system reach high levels with less effort per unit. Cabinet walls are thick, with a front baffle up to 38 mm, and an internal network of braces is used against resonance. The port has a fluted profile developed from research into air flow to avoid vent noise, and Bryston lists the enclosure type as Reflex and Vortex. Each Model T10 ships with four interchangeable crossover modules covering single, bi, tri and active amplification. In active form the passive crossover is replaced by the BAX-1 DSP crossover, which Bryston programs for this specific model after more than 300 measurements in its anechoic chamber.

Pairing

The passive version needs at least 50 watts and accepts amplifiers up to 1200 watts RMS per channel into its low impedance load. For the active version, each speaker takes three amplifier channels of equal gain, and Bryston notes that most owners pick a high powered mono amplifier for the bass and a medium powered two channel amplifier for midrange and tweeter. A Model TC10 center and a Model T10 subwoofer are planned as matching models.
