Напольная акустика — Audio Physic Medeos

The Medeos is a flagship five-way floorstanding loudspeaker from Audio Physic, built as a limited-edition masterpiece restricted to just ten pairs worldwide. Unveiled at High End Munich 2022, Audio Physic describes the Medeos as marking a milestone in the company's history, combining technical innovations and concepts realised for the first time anywhere into what the brand considers the pinnacle of what is currently technically possible in loudspeaker design.

Key specs that matter

Rated response is 23Hz to 40,000Hz into a demanding 4 ohm load. Fifteen drivers per speaker - thirty total across the pair - include eight 280mm (11-inch) woofers mounted in a push-push configuration on the cabinet's side panels, with four of these driven inductively for far-reaching level adjustment specifically in the bass range. At the heart of the Medeos sits a patent-pending midrange design - two ultralight foil-membrane emitters weighing just 0.1g each, mounted on a glass insert, working alongside four additional midrange drivers positioned on the front panel. A soft fabric dome tweeter completes the array. Every driver operates entirely without conventional centering and has either been newly developed or specifically refined for this model. At 175 x 32 x 55cm and 200kg per speaker, the outer shell uses multiplex honeycomb sandwich material for exceptional stability and internal damping, complemented by exclusive newly developed capacitors with further refined copper-foam contacting and Van den Hul connection wires throughout.

Sound and use context

Expect a spectacular, hitherto unrivalled musical performance - Audio Physic states this represents the current apex of everything the brand has learned since its founding, questioning every detail from electrical components to cone design and cabinet material, with the innovative driver mounting specifically engineered to eliminate the sonic interference conventional centering methods can introduce.

Pairing

Given the considerable scale and 200kg weight per cabinet, professional installation and careful room integration planning are essential, and Audio Physic manufactures each pair's finish individually to the specific customer's requirements rather than from standard stock options.

Alternatives

Audio Physic's Codex sits well below this flagship as a considerably more accessible four-way alternative, worth considering instead given the Medeos' limited ten-pair worldwide production and price starting around 150,000 to 159,900 euros per pair depending on finish.
