The Meander is a floor-placed loudspeaker from Davone, the Danish company whose cabinets are hand-built in small quantities in Denmark, and it was drawn by designer Paul Schenkel. Its enclosure is an inverted cone formed in one piece, with a roll of walnut or oak wrapped around the core of drive units and resting on a pedestal. Davone sells it in three forms - a passive stereo pair, the same pair upgraded with a WiFi or WiSA wireless module, and a single-cabinet All-in-One WiFi version.
Key specs that matter
In passive form the Meander is a 2.5-way bass reflex design. Two 7 inch mid-woofers work with a 1 inch anodised aluminium dome tweeter, and the crossover points sit at 200 Hz and 2.4 kHz. Davone rates the passive response at 40 Hz to 22,000 Hz, falling to 38 Hz in the WiFi and WiSA versions. Nominal impedance is 4 ohm with a minimum of 3.5 ohm at 350 Hz, sensitivity is 89 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m, and the suggested amplifier range is 100 to 200 W. Each cabinet measures 77 cm high, 44 cm wide and 44 cm deep and weighs 16.5 kg. Finishes are lacquered quarter-cut walnut or oiled quarter-cut oak.
Engineering and use context
The cone-shaped shell is built from curved plywood of nine layers. The mid-woofers use a magnet structure optimised for symmetry, a 39 mm voice coil, a paper and glass fibre cone and a die-cast aluminium chassis. All drivers are tilted slightly backward so that the listener gets a planned mix of direct and reflected energy, and the tweeter loses only 6 dB at 60 degrees off axis at 10 kHz. The WiFi module adds a 2 x 50 W Class D amplifier and an ADAU1451 quad-core DSP with Chromecast, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth and DLNA. The WiSA module instead places 2 x 100 W of ICEpower Class D in each cabinet, with an ADAU1452 DSP, an AKM4490 DAC and lossless wireless links up to 96 kHz and 24 bit. The All-in-One WiFi cabinet has become a 2 x 2-way bass reflex system since November 2025, driven by 4 x 50 W of Class D.
Pairing
A passive pair needs an amplifier comfortable with the low nominal load and able to cover the power bracket Davone specifies. Wireless owners can stream from a phone as the remote, add an optional remote handset for absolute or relative volume, and feed an analogue or digital input from a device such as a Sonos Port.
Alternatives
Within the same floorstanding category Davone also offers the Reference Three, a 90 cm tall reflex-loaded two-way pairing a 1 inch beryllium dome tweeter with a 7 inch cellulose and glass fibre woofer.
