The M8C Active is an active two-way coaxial loudspeaker pair from Vestlyd, a Danish brand whose range also includes the passive V15C and V12C coaxial speakers, the smaller M6C Active and the Stage A4. It was listed in July 2026 at EUR 1,149 per pair with a three-year warranty. Each speaker is 44.3 cm tall, so it is a compact design for stands, shelves or pole mounts.
Key specs that matter
Vestlyd builds each cabinet around a coaxial Power Monitor driver, with a 1 inch titanium dome compression tweeter placed inside the motor of an 8 inch paper-cone woofer. Four Class D amplifier channels of 75 W each drive the system, one per driver. Frequency response is 39.5 Hz to 22 kHz at -3 dB and 36 Hz to 24 kHz at -6 dB. Inputs are HDMI eARC, an analogue XLR and 6.35 mm combo socket, optical, USB-C and RCA with a switchable moving-magnet phono stage, and Bluetooth 5.1 supports AAC, aptX HD and aptX Low Latency, with resolution up to 24 bit and 192 kHz. A subwoofer output is fitted. Each speaker measures 29.0 x 44.3 x 27.0 cm, and the cabinet is MDF finished in black synthetic leather or oak-effect PVC. A 35 mm socket accepts a speaker pole, and standby consumption is below 0.5 W.
Engineering and use context
In the coaxial layout the woofer cone acts as a horn for the tweeter at its centre, and both drivers radiate from the same axis, which keeps the timing and dispersion of the two consistent at different listening positions. Because every driver has a dedicated amplifier channel, the system is fully active, with the crossover done before amplification and no passive network between amplifier and driver. A record player plugs straight into the MM phono input, and HDMI eARC connects a television. At the rear, controls assign the left and right speakers and adjust bass and treble, and three voicings are available, one each for music and film and one with a flat equalisation. The speakers switch on automatically when a signal arrives, except on Bluetooth and phono. A remote control is supplied. The eight inch woofer in a compact cabinet explains the deep bass extension without a separate subwoofer, although a subwoofer output is available for more.
Pairing
The M8C needs nothing but sources, whether a TV on eARC, a record deck on the MM input, a laptop on USB-C or a smartphone via Bluetooth, and the sub out lets an active subwoofer join later.
Alternatives
The Vestlyd M6C Active is the smaller active coaxial model with a 6 inch driver.
