The GrandeLuna MarkII from Sonus Victor is a very large sealed-box loudspeaker system with a 4+3 way layout, standing just over two metres tall. The Verona workshop builds it largely by hand, with drivers on both the front and the rear panel.
Key specs that matter
Quoted frequency range is 17 Hz to 30 kHz, sensitivity is 92 dB and nominal impedance is 4 ohms. The cabinet measures 202 x 46 x 62 cm (height, width, depth). The maker recommends amplification of around 600 W.
Engineering and use context
The front baffle carries two 25 mm silk-dome units (a super-tweeter and a tweeter), two 200 mm midrange units, one 250 mm woofer and two 320 mm treated-paper woofers. The rear panel adds a 25 mm silk-dome tweeter and a 50 mm silk-dome midrange. Enclosures are made from layered high density fibreboard, finished in wood veneer or custom paint. The hand-assembled crossover uses Mundorf components matched in pairs.
Pairing
With its low impedance and a recommended power figure in the hundreds of watts, the system calls for a high-current power amplifier.
