The ClairAudient Bellare is a floorstanding loudspeaker from Audience LLC of San Marcos, California, owned by John McDonald, with Phil Ducote as lead designer and final voicing by Rob St. Pierre. It made its debut at T.H.E. Show New York in autumn 2025, announced on 15 October 2025, and it was also shown at CAF 2025 before becoming available in March 2026. The price is USD 36,000 per pair for the monopole version and USD 39,000 for the bipole BP version.

Key specs that matter

An array of identical 3 inch TW3 TimeWave wideband drivers covers the range above 140 Hz, and the BP version adds two rear-firing TW3 drivers. Below that point a 7 inch TW mid-woofer and a 10 inch woofer are driven independently by a 300 W internal amplifier with DSP. Audience gives -3 dB points of 18 Hz and 22 kHz. Sensitivity is 88 dB, and the speaker works with amplifiers from 20 W upwards. Nominal impedance is 9.5 ohm and never falls below 8.5 ohm, rising from about 10 ohm at 80 Hz to 16 ohm at 20 kHz, and phase angle stays between about -45 and +25 degrees. Continuous output reaches 105 dB without driver compression. Each speaker measures about 112.4 cm high, 23.5 cm wide and 45.7 cm deep, with outrigger feet widening the footprint to 28.6 cm.

Engineering and use context

Because the TW3 drivers cover everything above the bass section, there is no crossover between midrange and treble, and no handoff in the region around 2.5 kHz where most two-way speakers divide the signal. Above that point the array acts as a point source. The bass section is powered separately, so the external amplifier sees a high impedance in the bass and only has to drive the wideband array. This is why the load stays high and benign, which allows single-ended valve amplifiers as well as high-current solid-state designs. The internal amplifier and DSP control the mid-woofer and woofer, with level and phase adjustable by remote, so the bass can be matched to the room placement and to the main array. The rear drivers of the BP version radiate backwards and turn the upper range into a bipole.

Pairing

The high, stable impedance and moderate sensitivity let low-powered valve amplifiers drive the array, and high-current solid-state amplifiers are equally suitable.

Alternatives

The Audience ClairAudient 16+16 Mk II is the tower with 32 drivers and nine passive radiators in a one-way bipole layout.
