The Bellatrix is a floorstanding loudspeaker from Divine Acoustics of Poland, designed by Piotr Galkowski. Development began in 2017 and took almost four years, of which about nine months went into the cabinet cutting templates and over a year into integrating the drivers. The panels are cut and assembled by hand without CNC machines, to tolerances below 0.3 mm.

Key specs that matter

The layout is 2.5-way with three drivers. Two modified 7-inch Eton Orchestra units with uncoated cellulose cones share the bass, and one of them also covers the midrange, while a shielded 1-inch Scan-Speak Illuminator silk ring radiator handles the treble. Divine Acoustics quotes a range of 35 Hz to 40 kHz, a sensitivity of 88 dB and a nominal impedance of 4 ohm. The recommended amplifier power is 10 to 160 W, and the suggested room size spans 16 to 40 m2. Each speaker weighs 29 kg.

Engineering and use context

Seen from above, the cabinet has an octagonal cross-section that leans back, with angled top and bottom edges. Inside, partitions divide it into several connected chambers that form a damped resonant system, which the maker describes as an interpretation of the tapered quarter-wave tube, combined with bass reflex loading and branded CRCdesign. No loose fill is used. Instead, braces, ribs and plywood reinforcements are tied together by a steel lattice linking the side walls, and mineral mats line the panels. The cabinet stands on a one-piece carbon steel pedestal with Kepler vibration-absorbing feet. The crossover holds 51 parts wired point to point on both sides of a board without traces. The mid-woofer filter is first order, with coil inductance compensation, baffle step compensation and correction of cone break-up, and the tweeter uses a twin-path second-order slope, both meeting near 2,900 Hz. Parts include Miflex KFPM-1 copper and MKP-10 foil capacitors, Jantzen Alumen and Z-series capacitors, Superes resistors with 1 percent tolerance and cotton-insulated OFC coils, with lead-free solder and Halley internal cable. Single copper binding posts take bananas or spades. Finishes are Smoke and Mocca in satin, and Snakewood in a high-gloss lacquer limited to 10 pairs.

Pairing

The low minimum power recommendation leaves room for low-power valve or class A amplifiers, while the low nominal impedance favours designs that stay stable into it. The single pair of terminals rules out bi-wiring.

The Divine Acoustics Proxima is a slimmer sealed two-way floorstander with one 170 mm mid-bass driver, rated at 89 dB and 8 ohm.
