The Primacy T6 is a fully active three-way floorstanding loudspeaker from JL Audio of Miramar, Florida, the company founded in 1975 by Jim Birch and Lucio Proni, whose initials give it its name. Garmin completed the acquisition of JL Audio on 20 September 2023, which is why the product is sold and documented by Garmin. The Primacy T6 was shown in late April 2026 at the Miramar headquarters and became available in May 2026 as JL Audio's first major home audio launch under Garmin. The price is USD 90,000 per pair.

Key specs that matter

A 26 mm carbon-fibre dome tweeter, a 140 mm mineral-filled polypropylene midrange working from 250 Hz to 3 kHz and four 140 mm aluminium-cone woofers covering 29 to 250 Hz make up each speaker. Class D amplification totals 1,000 W RMS, with 200 W for the tweeter and 200 W for the midrange at 6 ohm and 600 W for the woofers at 2 ohm. Frequency response is 45 Hz to 20 kHz within 2 dB, and maximum output exceeds 114 dB SPL averaged from 100 Hz to 3 kHz at 1 m. Latency is 4.46 ms, short enough to keep sound in step with a picture. Inputs are balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA at 50 kOhm and Dante networking on two RJ45 ports at 32 bit and 192 kHz. Each speaker measures 124.2 x 36.1 x 53.8 cm and weighs 123 kg.

Engineering and use context

An AKM triple-core processor handles crossovers, equalisation, limiting, delay and phase at the input of each amplifier channel, so every driver gets its own filtered signal and amplifier. The midrange is mechanically decoupled from the baffle, which isolates it from the woofers' vibration. The cabinet is a single cast and precision-machined aluminium-alloy enclosure with integrated internal bracing and woofer ports, and the front baffle is a 23 mm powder-coated aluminium extrusion. The exterior plating is removable, so the finish can be changed, and gloss or piano black is standard, with wood and custom colours available. It ships at 157 kg per speaker. Consumption is about 40 W at idle and below 0.5 W in Eco standby.

The CS Centerpiece, at USD 15,000, is the matching streamer, preamplifier and controller, with streaming services, optical, USB and HDMI inputs and an MM and MC phono stage.

Alternatives

The Primacy S3 is a two-way stand-mount, so JL Audio has no second floorstanding model.
