The Acoustic Energy AE320² is the bigger tower of the two in the redesigned 300 Series from the British loudspeaker maker, sold alongside the slimmer AE309². It went on sale in late June 2025 at GBP 1,500 per pair, keeping the price level of the previous model. Acoustic Energy describes it as a tower with a bigger form factor based on the driver array of the Corinium, the company's top loudspeaker, and targets it at medium and large listening rooms.
Key specs that matter
The passive three-way layout combines two 140 mm paper cone bass drivers, a 120 mm paper cone midrange and a 29 mm fabric dome tweeter. Crossover points sit at 240 Hz and 2.8 kHz. The quoted frequency range is 30 Hz to 29 kHz, sensitivity is 92 dB and nominal impedance is 6 ohm. Power handling is rated at 200 W, and maximum output is given as 118 dB SPL peak. The cabinet stands 1,050 mm tall, or 1,070 mm with spikes fitted, and is 200 mm wide and 350 mm deep, with a weight of 26 kg per speaker. Three finishes are offered - walnut veneer plus white or black in a new silk-touch matte coat.
Engineering and use context
All three cones use a blend of paper and coconut fibre, a material taken from research done for the Corinium project and chosen to balance stiffness, damping and low moving mass. The soft dome tweeter is an all-new design derived from the same programme. Drivers are mounted in a slimline enclosure built from 18 mm MDF bonded to a bitumen layer, a constrained-layer construction that Acoustic Energy calls RSC, short for Resonance Suppression Composite. Bass output is augmented by a rear-mounted port with a slot-shaped duct, and its profile was worked out to limit air turbulence. Solid aluminium outrigger feet with M8 spike threads come in the box together with spike covers that protect finished floors. Slim cloth grilles attach magnetically, and each finish gets its own matching trim and grille colour along with screen-printed logos.
Pairing
The high efficiency lets the AE320² reach high levels from amplifiers of modest output, including low-power designs, while the nominal impedance asks for no unusual current delivery from the amplifier. The 300 Series LCR model AE307² uses the same cone material and tweeter family, which makes it the natural centre channel if the towers are used in a home cinema.
Alternatives
Within the same series, the Acoustic Energy AE309² offers a 2.5-way floorstanding option in a narrower 170 mm cabinet weighing 18.5 kg.
