The 1528 Tower 8 Limited 10th Anniversary Edition is a special version of the 1528 Tower 8 floorstanding loudspeaker, made by Arendal Sound of Norway to mark the first decade of the company. Only 25 numbered pairs are being built. Sales opened on 10 October 2025 at GBP 10,000, EUR 11,900 or USD 12,900 per pair, sold only direct to customers, compared with USD 10,900 for the regular model.

Key specs that matter

Arendal uses a three-way layout here. A 28 mm lithium-magnesium tweeter sits in a waveguide above a 5-inch carbon-graphene midrange, and four 8-inch aluminium bass drivers handle the low end, with crossover points given as 420 Hz and 2,800 Hz. Sensitivity is 89.5 dB measured with 2.83 V at 1 m and a nominal impedance of 4 ohm. Maximum output is quoted at 118 dB peak and 112 dB RMS, and the recommended amplification goes up to 1,000 W RMS.

Engineering and use context

Arendal uses HDF for the enclosure walls, and the front baffle is 85 mm thick. Driver layout is time aligned, and the ports have an inner diameter of 140.5 mm. Arendal specifies a break-in period of about 50 hours. What separates this version from the standard Tower 8 is the finish and hardware. Each cabinet is veneered in rosewood and covered with 12 layers of hand-polished piano lacquer, so the grain differs from pair to pair, while the front baffle, waveguide assembly, woofer trim and base bars are satin black. The regular model is offered in Basalt satin black or Polar satin white. Puck Pro feet replace the Puck Plus feet of the standard speaker, offering improved isolation from the floor. A chrome-plated stainless-steel plaque on the rear carries the unit number and a laser-etched signature of CEO Jan Ove Lassesen, and each pair includes a Certificate of Authenticity carrying the signature of CTO Thomas Gunvaldsen.

Pairing

The four woofers and low nominal impedance point to transistor amplification with generous current delivery. High-power integrateds or pre and power combinations suit it, and the high upper power limit allows large monoblocks in a big listening space. Because of the high maximum output, amplifier headroom rather than the speaker usually sets the practical limit on level. Small valve amplifiers are a poor match for this load.
