The Sandwich 100 is a compact 2-way standmount loudspeaker from LEAK, launched in April 2026 at GBP 499 per pair. It is the smallest and most affordable member of the revived Sandwich series, placed below the Sandwich 150 and 250 and aimed at desktops and smaller listening spaces. The Sandwich name goes back to 1961, when LEAK developed a layered cone construction to raise stiffness and cut distortion.
Key specs that matter
LEAK fits a 5.75 inch (150 mm) mid-bass unit and a 30 mm coated textile dome tweeter, divided at 2.2 kHz. LEAK quotes 49 Hz to 20 kHz within 3 dB and bass extension to 44 Hz at -6 dB. Sensitivity is 86 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m, nominal impedance is 6 ohm with a minimum of 4.8 ohm, and maximum SPL is 102 dB. The recommended amplifier range is 25 to 100 W. Each speaker is 340 mm tall on its plinth, 210 mm wide and 270 mm deep including terminals, and weighs 7.86 kg.
Engineering and use context
LEAK builds the woofer diaphragm as a modern take on the original Sandwich idea - a Rohacell structural foam core bonded between aluminium skins, which keeps the diaphragm light and rigid. The enclosure is a vented box of 10.6 litres with a rear-firing bass reflex port, so some space behind the cabinet helps the port work as designed. The crossover uses polypropylene capacitors and air-core inductors. Acoustic damping is placed inside the cabinet together with internal bracing to reduce panel resonance. The cabinet is finished in walnut veneer with aluminium detailing and a black front baffle, matching the retro look of the larger models. Because the crossover hands the upper range to the tweeter fairly low, the small mid-bass unit is spared from working far into the treble, and the rigid composite cone is meant to keep it moving as one piece across its band. Its size suits a desk, a shelf with rear clearance or dedicated stands in a room of around 20 m2.
Pairing
LEAK describes the nominal load as 8 ohm compatible, so most modern integrated amplifiers will drive it, though the impedance minimum favours designs that are comfortable with lower impedances. The modest sensitivity means picking an amplifier toward the upper end of LEAK's suggested power band leaves spare power in bigger spaces. The LEAK Stereo 130 at 45 W per channel sits inside that window and matches the walnut styling.
Alternatives
The LEAK Sandwich 150 steps up in size as a stand-mounted model using a 170 mm aluminium-foamcore Sandwich cone, 86.5 dB sensitivity and a height of 41.5 cm.
