The Turbine Cone combines a proprietary foam core with a moulded turbine-shaped geometry, which Polk says raises stiffness and damping without adding mass. Bass is vented through a rear X-Port, a patented Polk design that incorporates an Eigentone Filter - a set of closed-pipe absorbers tuned to catch port and cabinet resonances so that they stay out of the upper bass and midrange. The grilles attach magnetically and are designed to reduce diffraction. The R100 carries Hi-Res Audio certification, which Polk links to response extending to 40 kHz, with formats such as DSD, FLAC, WAV, ALAC and MQA named by the maker, and Polk grants a five-year warranty on the model.

Polk recommends 70 W or more per channel for this model, which sits inside the rated range above. The R100 is not listed by Polk as designed for use with the Reserve R900 height module.
