The Raccoon is a compact active nearfield monitor from Telegrapher, the Istanbul loudspeaker maker, presented at NAMM 2026 together with the Panda, Hippo and Carbon Fox. It is a fully analogue 2-way design with a side-firing passive radiator, intended for mixing, editing and long working sessions at close listening distances in a smaller studio.
Key specs that matter
A 15.2 cm (6-inch) woofer and a 2.5 cm (1-inch) tweeter are driven by two separate 50 W Class D amplifiers per cabinet, with THD plus noise of 0.002%. Telegrapher quotes a response of 45 Hz to 20 kHz and a peak SPL of 102 dB at 1 metre. Connection is by a balanced analogue XLR socket only. A single speaker is 34.7 cm high, 23.7 cm wide and 25.4 cm deep, with a weight of 9.5 kg. Power consumption is rated at 100 W RMS and 150 W maximum.
Engineering and use context
Telegrapher calls the cabinet a PR-tuned vented type. The passive radiator stretches the low end of the small cabinet without a port, so there is no port turbulence or port noise. The crossover is active and analogue, and no digital processing sits in the signal path. A switchable 40 Hz high-pass filter with a gentle slope trims only the deepest sub-bass content instead of cutting everything below 40 Hz, which helps in rooms or on desks where extreme low-frequency energy is a problem. Protection circuits shut the amplifiers down on electrical failure, high-frequency signals or overheating, shown by a red LED. A white LED indicates normal running, red flashing warns of clipping, and continuous clipping triggers a protective shutdown. Standby is user controllable, with a 120-minute auto-off that can be disabled. The perforated front grille has a high open area. Mains input covers 110-120 V or 200-240 V at 47-63 Hz through a 3-pin IEC connector. The cabinet has a soft-touch silky matte finish, offered in Trooper White or Jaipur Orange.
Pairing
Being balanced-only, the Raccoon connects directly to an audio interface, a DAC or a monitor controller with XLR outputs. For deeper bass extension, the Telegrapher Hippo subwoofer from the same launch has a 10-inch driver, 250 W of amplification and a variable crossover from 30 to 300 Hz with phase control. Where a larger 3-way format is wanted, the Panda from the same series combines an 8-inch woofer, a 4-inch midrange and a 1-inch tweeter with active time-aligned crossovers, and shares the switchable high-pass filter of the Raccoon.
Alternatives
The Telegrapher Carbon Fox is a compact active monitor from the same maker with a carbon fibre enclosure.
