The R25 is the larger of two bookshelf models in the Radia loudspeaker series from Arcam, the British electronics brand that operates under HARMAN and draws on its research, measurement and testing facilities. Radia was unveiled at ISE 2026 in Barcelona and marks the return of Arcam to speakers, with retail availability from the second quarter of 2026 and stock reaching shops by May. The range also includes the R15 bookshelf model, the R35 and R45 floorstanders, the R35C centre channel and the R25B active subwoofer. The R25 is priced at GBP 2,599 or EUR 3,000 per pair.

Key specs that matter

This is a passive two-way design. A 25 mm Deep Ceramic Composite aluminium dome tweeter sits in a patented waveguide with an acoustic lens, and a 165 mm Micro Ceramic Composite cone with an inverted surround handles bass and midrange, crossing over at 1.7 kHz. Arcam quotes a frequency response of 43 Hz to 40 kHz within plus or minus 6 dB, sensitivity of 85.5 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m, and a nominal impedance of 6 ohm. Recommended amplifier power runs from 15 to 200 W. Each speaker measures 246 mm wide, 323 mm deep and 359 mm high and weighs 11.0 kg, and a boxed pair weighs 27.0 kg.

Engineering and use context

The bass driver is mounted in a patented cast frame, which Arcam describes as precision-engineered, and the enclosure is rigidly cross-braced inside to reduce cabinet resonance. Bass loading is reflex, with the port opening at the back of the cabinet. The same tweeter type and acoustic lens waveguide appear across the whole Radia series, so the R25 shares its high-frequency hardware with the floorstanding models, where DCC construction is also used for the midrange drivers. The cabinet is finished in black natural walnut veneer with yellow accent details, and the grilles attach with magnets. Arcam also offers optional aluminium stands for the bookshelf models.

Pairing

The nominal load is moderate for most integrated amplifiers, while the sensitivity figure is on the low side, so the upper part of the recommended power window gives more margin than the 15 W minimum. For a multichannel system, the R35C centre and the R25B subwoofer, which pairs a 250 mm coated fibre composite cone with a 750 W amplifier, come from the same range and share its driver families and finish.
